Jim Demarest wrote to let me know about a new article in Air Force Magazine about our GBNF classmate Steve Phillis. Steve was an A-10 pilot who was tragically killed on 15 Feb 1991 during the Desert Storm campaign. Steve received the Silver Star posthumously for his actions that day.
Beginning in 1997, Jim has done extensive research into the details of the actions Steve took during his fateful sortie and has built a strong case for why Steve's Silver Star should be upgraded to the Medal of Honor. Take a few minutes to read the article and I think you'll agree.
