Christmas Letter from
Steve & Peggy Toldy

Seasons Greetings! We hope youve been well. Congratulations to you Jim on
finishing ACSC. Sounds like you have been busy on the computer. Bet you could teach us
lots of neat stuff. Heres what weve been up to:
As we told you last January, 1996 began on a sad note with
the death of Peggys father. We still miss him very much, but are glad he is at
peace. His ashes were scattered on the ocean waters near Ketchikan, Alaska as a flight of
puffins flew a missing man formation. The puffins brought tears to our eyes as they look
rather like penguins, which Peggys Dad collected for years. The famous Turek Penguin
Farm began when Peggy & her brother were at the Air Force Academy. When asked what
their Dad did, they always said "he raises penguins" as a joke (since many
people believed penguins live in Alaska!). Since the honor code at the Academy is strict,
Dad promptly began collecting penguins to farm!
Steves father has also had a rough year, and his mom has had her hands full
trying to care for him in his illness. Hes improved in the last few months. Please
keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.
Spring brought joy as Peggy and Katherine joined Steve at Pope Air Force Base. Please
note the new address if you havent already! Steve had just become the Chief of Stan
Eval at Pope Air Force Base. He has enjoyed the job a great deal, but the hours
havent gotten any shorter.
Although the rest of the year kept us both busy, it has been rather quiet compared to
last year. Peggy passed her comprehensive examination in June and her dissertation
proposal, "How a fighter remembers its mission", was approved in
December. Now a lot of research and writing remains to be accomplished before July!
Were very thankful to be together again as a family. Katherine continues to bring
great joy to our lives as we see her grow and learn. We recently learned that Steves
sister, Sarah, is pregnant again. Mom Toldy was ecstatic to hear that grandchild #3 was on
the way and were glad that family will have another baby to enjoy.
If you get up this way, come and see us! And if you get a chance to write or send
e-mail, wed love to hear from you!
