Hello to all Past USAFA Prep School Graduates!!!
On behalf of USAFA superintendent Lt Gen John Dallager, I am pleased and excited to announce our plans to hold the first All-Class USAFA Prep School Reunion 31 October to 2 November 2002. I’m sure you join me in appreciating how much the Prep School did to help us all grow as individuals and as team members – now it’s time to get the team together for some fun and reflection. The current Prep School Commander, Col Larry Fariss, developed the vision for this reunion, and I am very honored to join my good friend and fellow Preppie, Lt Col Jeff Ford, in leading this effort. We need to know if you are interested in attending such an event. Below are details of our planning effort to date, a website you can log on to for more information, and the steering committee we have established to organize and execute this exciting event.
The Prep School has a 40-year history of providing significant contributions to the Academy’s population. The School has provided significant diversity, athletic talent, and input from the enlisted ranks to the Academy and officer corps. Your contribution is recognized by senior Air Force leadership to include the Secretary of the Air Force. The reunion that will occur this fall has the following objectives:
- Reunites Prep School alumni and friends of the Prep School.
- Provide role models for the current cadet candidates in both military and civilian life.
- Reconnect the alumni with the School by demonstrating its current mission
- Provide opportunities for sponsorship of both the cadet candidates and the School
The reunion will be a 3-day event centered on the Prep School campus. It will include the following activities:
- A Facility dedication/fly-by and Wall of Fame induction for past Prep School graduates
- Athletic events to include Prep School basketball/football and a USAFA football game against Colorado State University on Thursday night, the 31st of October
- Mission briefings, classroom involvement, and dining activities with the cadet candidates
- A dining out, campus barbeque, golf tournament, horseback riding, and other optional events
To date we have gathered over 5000 names of past USAFA Prep School graduates. We hope to have a sizable portion of those alumni attend our reunion. I am honored to co-chair our committee along with Col (retired) Lee Black. Col Black commanded the Prep School for over 10 years at its inception. Other notable members include Col Randy Spetman, the current USAFA athletic director. See the attached roster for the entire steering committee that includes a host of past and distinguished Prep School grads.
Now that our reunion is taking shape, we need your help in contacting all past Prep School graduates to solicit their interest. Please contact Prep School graduates you know and ensure they are aware of this exciting event. We need volunteers from each class to contact their fellow classmates, and to act as a class rep for each class.
